Lemonade

Lacrosse

I’ll probably never fully understand the creative process, or at least be able to describe it elegantly in a few sentences. I was faced with the lemon/lemonade concept of making something good out of something bad. The lacrosse game I was photographing was a mismatch, final score: 23-6. Killer head-to-head action was non-existent, the winning team scored at will and left little drama to capture.

After the shoot and edit (that produced plenty usable but not exciting images) I thought of ways to extract images of interest and chose to go in a different direction. I cropped in a trusty format – the faux panorama. It worked once before when I first shot a few Icelandic photos and looked for ways to have my landscapes stand out. It looks like the method is working again and the beginning of a series on women’s sports looks to be unfolding.
